Facebook Fan PageIf you have landed on this page searching for tips on how to remove a user from a Facebook fan page, you have come to the right place.

If you are wondering, why do we need a guide on this? This sounds as simple as clicking on the little ‘X’ next to the user from the likes screen and you’re done, then you’re definitely wrong.

If your Facebook fan page has a couple of hundreds of fans, then the typical method of removing a Facebook user might work. You might be able to scroll through the list of likes and remove the user. If a Facebook user has posted on your wall, then also its easy to remove/block or ban the user. But if your fan page has thousands of likes and the user you want to block/remove/ban has never posted on your page, then you’ll be surprised how difficult it can be.

If you start browsing the list of likes of your Facebook page, you will find it only displays till a certain limit, maybe it will display a few hundreds of likes.

So here is a guide how you can remove a Facebook user from a Facebook fan page…which has been explained with 2 popular browsers – Firefox and Chrome

Difficulty Level – Intermediate
Time – Approx 5 minutes

First some basic tips and information that we will require.

Find the Facebook numeric user ID of the desired user. Since most user pages now display the user’s name instead of the ID, we will need to find the numeric ID.

Step 1(a) – This is a simple step and you can go to a website similar to http://findmyfacebookid.com to find the ID. Paste the profile url of the user and it will show you the numeric ID. The Facebook profile url will be something like www.facebook.com/username…

Next go your Facebook fan page and from the admin panel, under New Likes section, you will see a link for See All. If you click it, a popup window will open and you can browse through all the likes. A much faster way is to right click on the See All link, and click Open in a new tab/window. Now you can browse through the fans list much faster.

Or you can simply copy paste this url and replace the Page ID after the ‘=’ sign

Update: Facebook has changed the fans page screen now, below are instructions on removing a user in the new page.

Using Chrome Browser

On the Facebook Likes page, select a random user. Remember this user as making changes to a different user may delete him unwillingly.

Click on the gear icon next to the user, right click on the remove option in the drop down menu and select ‘Inspect Element‘. A window should open below the page as shown in the screenshot.

Remove User from Facebook Fan page

In the developer window below, you will find codes as shown in the screenshot.

Remove User from Facebook Fan page

Search for the code

a class="_54nc" tabindex="0" role="menuitem" href="/ajax/pages/fanlist/mutator.php?page_id=30782968931xxxx&user_id=1000075818xxxxx&act=remove" rel="async-post">Remove

The numeric value in the ‘user_id’ field is what we are looking for. Currently this will be the user ID of the random user we have selected. Now double click on the id field and it will become editable. Copy the numeric ID of the user we want to remove, which we found out from the Step 1 (a) and replace the value here (between id= and &amp)

Do not close the developer window, and click on the gear icon on the same user again and click remove, and a window should popup asking do we want to remove the user. Important – If we have done everything right, the popup window will display the name of the user we want to remove. If it does not display the desired name, then please go back to the previous instructions.

Using Firefox Browser – Old Instructions

On the Facebook Likes page, select a random user. Remember this user as making changes to a different user may delete him unwillingly.

Right click on the X button next the user and select ‘Inspect Element‘. A window should open below the page as shown in the screenshot.

Copy the numeric ID of the user we want to remove, which we found out from the Step 1 (a) and replace the value here.

Do not close the developer window, and click on X on the same user again, and a window should popup asking do we want to remove the user. Important – If we have done everything right, the popup window will display the name of the user we want to remove. If it does not display the desired name, then please go back to the previous instructions.

I am unable to do this step, I cannot replace only the value, I can only delete the whole line, or do nothing. What should I do Only problem is that FB is not showing ALL of my fans. What do I do? Please help! Thank youIf you edit the element, even with the newer elements being updated, you ban the original user and not the one you want.

In other words, don’t do this. Facebook even sends a big fat warning to the Chrome dev console now.

Sad but true, as we really SHOULD be able to proactively block people who are trouble makers rather than having to have them like a page. Some public pages still have information that specific people don’t need (and yes, they could browse from a different account, but many don’t think that far ahead).

I dont understand! The user I want to remove does NOT show up in that list of fans!? But if I go directly to his profile, he difinitely has my page ”liked”.
I do not have a ”new likes” section on my admin page but I can access the list through the search field.
Only problem is that FB is not showing ALL of my fans. What do I do? Please help! Thank you
