Reliance Telecommunication is all set to upgrade 5 million(approx.) of its CDMA users to 4G from May 4, 2016. Reliance will be shifting its network from CDMA to LTE using the 800 megahertz spectrum.

“We will be making this much necessary shift starting from 4th of May. Intimations will be sent to the customers through SMSs to our CDMA customers about this.” the head of telecommunication said in a letter to DoT.

Reliance Telecom has hence liberalized the 800 Mhz spectrum in 16 circles of the country like Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai, Maharashtra, MP, Orissa, Kolkata, Bihar, UP(East) and UP(West). By paying an amount of Rs 5383.84 crore to the DoT, Reliance Telecom is the fourth telecom company to invest in the 4G market after Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. It will invest another Rs 1300 crore to liberalise waves in four other circles, including Assam and other North Eastern States.

Reliance Telco has packed with Reliance Jio for this mega project on 4G.

I am subscriber to CDMA FWP (Post Paid) in ’93′ series. I am an old subscriber of reliance and my this account is about 8 years old. Now it has been communicated through various channels that Reliance is closing its CDMA services and migrating their CDMA customers to 4G.Indeed this is a good news.
I have also collected my 4G SIM from Reliance Store. But when I went to activate it through SMS to 1299 I got the reply that ” Request of 4G upgrade is not available for your Mobile Number”. after failing through SMS I also tried to activate by dialing 1299, but it was also of no use as i was given a message that Service is not available. After failing all the ways, I again contacted the Reliance Mobile Store, but they could not help and simply replied that they are not aware how to overcome this problem. I could not find any way to upgrade to 4G as being promised by Reliance for their CDMA customers.

After exhausting all options to upgrade, in order to continue to avail services from Reliance, I applied for Porting my postpaid Reliance CDMA number to Reliance GSM. But the porting declined informing to upgrade to 4G.

Please inform the procedure if any one has migrated/ upgraded their Reliance CDMA FWP number to 4G.
