USB Dongles

If you are using a USB Data Card or USB Dongle on your laptop/computer to connect to the internet, you will need to set the correct Access Point Name (APN) settings of your telecom provider in the Mobile Application software in order to connect successfully. Most of the softwares provided along with the Data Card/ USB Dongle will have all the setting preconfigured, however incase you have messed the settings or need to enter the settings in a software which is not configured, you will need to enter the APN settings manually.

To enter the settings manually, follow the steps below. These are generic instructions and most of the software should have similar options.

  • Go to Tools > Option > Connection Type > NDIS or RAS Modem (For 2g sim) > Click OK
  • Go to Tools > Option >Profile Management > Select New > Enter Service Provider Name into Profile name > Select Static > Enter APN as per the list given below > Press Save Button
  • Go to Connection – Select appropriate Service Provider – Click Connect

Here we have listed the 3G APN settings of all major telecom providers – Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Idea, BSNL, TATA Docomo, Reliance, MTNL

SettingsAPNAccess No.UsernamePassword
Aircelaircelgprs*99***1# or *99#BlankBlank
TATA Docomotata.docomo.internet*99#BlankBlank
Reliancercomwap or rcomnet*99#BlankBlank
MTNL3G Postpaid – mtnl3g
3G Prepaid – pps3g

Incase any of the settings are not working and there are any updates, please post them here.

my huawei dongle was working fine. It could detect airtel 3g connection. But after I used vodaphone sim and bsnl sim, it is detecting my airtel sim’s connection as 2g connection . Though it (airtel) has 3g. But it still can detect other sim’s (vodaphone, bsnl) 3g connection.
Can’t understand what is the problem.I set all necessary settings. Airtel customer care also confirmed that the settings are ok. But problem is not solved.
    Please help.

I tried all the APN settings online but could not get it to connect to 3G. All I had to do was choose “Aircel 3G” among Network Operators under Mobile Network settings (in Android Lollipop 5.1.1). It was set to “Aircel 2G” before.

This works with the default APN settings or with the manual settings. Hope this helps someone.
