Vodafone India introduced ‘U’ packs in May which primarily focuses on the youths, and is now offering free talktime to promote the pack to the users. The freebies start from Rs. 20 talktime, which is added to extra data with U pack recharge. However, it should be noted that these freebies are applicable only for a selected few customers.

Based on the information acquired from the telecom department, the youth customers of Vodafone are getting SMS’s where students are promised Rs. 20-40 talktime, and extra data up to Rs. 300, although it is limited to a few customers and as market offer for all.

Back in may, when every telecom company across the country was expanding its 4G network, Vodafone introduced the U pack to woo its young customers. To make the pack more attractive, the company customized the prepaid pack like a postpaid one, and partnered with popular youth icons like TVF, Kanan Gill and Raftaar. But the company failed to deliver any sort of exclusive content to the U customers.

In a market like India, where customers are extremely cost sensitive, U packs failed to attract customers, as they came with smaller data benefits.
