After the launch of Reliance backed Jio’s in the market, the data tariff rates of almost all the telecom companies underwent a significant transformation. Intact in the game is Bharti Airtel, which is now offering 2GB 3G/4G data at just Rs. 153 to its prepaid customers. Although the offer is available only to a selected few subscribers, Airtel has already proved that it is following Jio in a move to protect its customer base. Other operators like Vodafone and Idea cellular are also offering the same amount of data in this price range, which clearly shows that telecom companies are competing Jio with their dirt cheap rates. Some operators are also selling 1GB 3G/4G data at a rate as low as Rs. 50, however, they are only available after an upfront payment of Rs. 1500. The Bharti Mittal owned company is also offering similar benefits to postpaid customers where one can get 1.5 GB of 3G/4G data at only Rs 100.

Airtel’s offer is launched in all the major circles of the country, and is available to thousands of customers without any upfront payment. Currently, most data users across the country find 1-2GB data packs useful, and this new offer by Airtel will surely appease the customers. Also, it will put pressure on Jio which is currently grabbing a good hold in the data market.
