Reliance Telecommunication is all set to upgrade 5 million(approx.) of its CDMA users to 4G from May 4, 2016. Reliance will be shifting its network from CDMA to LTE using the 800 megahertz spectrum.
“We will be making this much necessary shift starting from 4th of May. Intimations will be sent to the customers through SMSs to our CDMA customers about this.” the head of telecommunication said in a letter to DoT.
Reliance Telecom has hence liberalized the 800 Mhz spectrum in 16 circles of the country like Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai, Maharashtra, MP, Orissa, Kolkata, Bihar, UP(East) and UP(West). By paying an amount of Rs 5383.84 crore to the DoT, Reliance Telecom is the fourth telecom company to invest in the 4G market after Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. It will invest another Rs 1300 crore to liberalise waves in four other circles, including Assam and other North Eastern States.
